course update

March lesson Beeley U3A
We concentrated on painting trees and grasping the form as done by a variety of artists we studied.
If anyone wants to prepare mentally or next month, then look up 'fauvism'.  Basically, the style developed from French artists following Monet and Van Gogh and their impressionism. These artists and especially Matisse, looked at each part of the painting, decided what the colour was and exaggerated it as much as they could, with the idea of achieving the purity of the most basic related colour - i.e. a slight purple shadow on a cheek would be painted as deep or really bright purple. A grey blue tint would be deep blue.

So for our next lesson, we will try painting a scene of your choosing or tree outside if it's good weather in this style. Its really fun, and we are learning.

2014
This year of course I intended making more art, particularly the next stage of my Visual Mathematics project, but as usual I am distracted by other more urgent arty creations, such as making my share of the annual costumes for the local pantomime, - this time 'Babes in the woods'  with lots of med-evil fashion, designing and making other individual, personal and ordered items, such as winter wool coat, dresses, boots, curtains, and room accessories.
Next moth, coming soon, I'lll create art. I also have some portraits I particularly want to paint.
